My laptop said the camera is not available and I can't use my camera on my laptop with Windows Vista installed. What should I do? Can I download it from somewhere? Please help!

Answer by Julia Bocchetta

If you don't have the support CD for your laptop, then you will need to download the package manually. You can do this by first identifying the laptop you're using. Turn the laptop upside down and identify its model number. Paste that number in Google and attach +drivers string. If it's a known laptop, the first like will take you to the official drivers downloading page. From that location, choose Windows Vista as your operating system and download the camera support applications. Install it using the on-screen instructions and the functionality will be restored among the support software.

Camera Assistant is available for Windows 7 and Windows XP versions. Don't mind the supported models as the application will work correctly on any installed laptop model.

You can't add more effects to your camera except the ones that the application already has. If you want additional effects, you can install YouCam. The application allows you to add almost everything you want to your active stream.

Every time I turn on my webcam for my friend on IM it goes to a multicolored screen. This is happening since I downloaded the Webcam Morpher. I uninstalled the Morpher program without success. Also, I uninstalled and reinstalled the camera software, but the problems persist. I'm getting really frustrated with this problem. I don't want to reset my computer or to get another one. Can you help?

If the computer reboot doesn't solve the problem, right-click on Computer icon, select Manage and go to Device Manager. Double-click the Imaging Devices option, right click on your webcam driver and select Uninstall. After that, go to your device developer web page and download and install the latest drivers for your webcam model and operating system. This should fix the issue.

Answer by Pete Clapp

Use Toshiba Detection Tool to get the full information about your system model and enter your laptop model or serial number in the provided field. After that, click GO, select your operating system, and download and install the latest Basic Input and Output System driver. Next, reinstall the Camera Assistant Software and the webcam driver and the problem should disappear.

I have a webcam that worked fine until I installed this software. Now, I can't see anything. What can I do?

P
Answer by Pete Clapp

Firstly, remove the utility using its uninstaller or Add or Remove Programs feature (Control Panel > Uninstall a program) and run a registry cleaner to make sure that there are no leftover registry keys in your system. After that, press Windows + Pause/Break key combination and open Device Manager. Expand the Universal Serial Bus controllers and Imaging devices lists, right-click on the webcam driver and select Uninstall. Reboot your computer, make sure that your webcam is connected, press Scan for hardware changes icon from Device Manager and reinstall the drivers.

Also, go to Start, type dxdiag and open the utility. Click the Display tab, check your video card model and download and install the latest drivers from the developer's page. After that, if you want to capture videos or to take photos with your webcam, you can use a utility from Software Informer database.
